plywood

I managed to save a few scraps of plywood during the construction of the studio.  I have been painting/drawing the rocky beach in Sechlet for a couple of years now with watercolors.  I thought I would try some acrylics and inks on this wood.  Some of the stones have a shimmer to them from some metallic paints mixed in.   There are never two stones alike on the beach and I can spend all day sorting through and filling my pockets with them!

This image of the dianthus keep cropping up in my paintings.  It is from a tile a friend brought me from Turkey.  Turkey has been one of me favorite countries to visit and the dianthus a great smelling flower worthy of documentation!  Once in a while on the beach you find an old piece of ceramic with a pattern on it worn down by the ocean.  It is like a glimmer into the past disguised as a rock.

I like that the plywoods cracks and texture are so like the real stones.
